Rapaki Track is a popular route up to the Summit Road for mountain bikers. From there you can choose a number of tracks back down, including the Mt Vernon Farm track.
RAPAKI TRACK TO THE SUMMIT ROAD (~40 MINUTES)
Starting from Centaurus Road, head up Rapaki Road, which turns into a gravel farm track after nearly 1km. It's then a long steady climb with one slight down hill section (The Dip) before the final climb up to the Summit Road.
MT VERNON TRACK (~15 MINUTES)
Once at the Summit Road head over to the other side where the Mt Vernon track begins. This is a single track that follows above the Summit Road below the peak of Mt Vernon. Half way around there is the option to drop down and cross the Summit Road to the Lamar Wheelchair track car park where the Mt Vernon Farm Track starts from.
MT VERNON FARM TRACK TO HILLSBOROUGH TERRACE (~15 MINUTES)
Mt Vernon Farm track starts to the left of the Lamar Wheelchair track for a fast ride down a mostly smooth grassy track. Near the bottom, the track splits in two, with bikes keeping to the left track. It's then a short distance to the top of Hillsborough Terrace. Turn right onto Centaurus Road, back to the start at Rapaki Road.
PLEASE NOTE: At the bottom of the farm track bikers are passing thru private property so please respect the land owners rights
