Whispering Falls & Hackett Hut Tracks are two of the three mountain bike tracks that start from the Roding River Recreation Reserve. It's mostly on single track that follows the river up the valley to the Whispering Falls and further up the valley to Hackett Hut.
HOW TO GET THERE (16KM FROM RICHMOND)
From Richmond, head South on Highway 6, turning left at the Hackett Picnic area sign after 4kms. The Roding River Recreation Reserve is another 12kms along the Aniseed Valley Road.
RODING RIVER RESERVE TO WHISPERING FALLS (~30 MINS ONE WAY)
Cross the bridge and carry on past the 'Hacket Hut' sign for a short distance before veering left onto a gravel road. After about 10 minutes you get to a swing bridge which leads across to a single track.
Carry on along the track until you reach a folk in the track. Keep to the track on the left which leads to a bridge where you can view the Whispering Falls.
RODING RIVER RESERVE TO HACKETT HUT (~1 HOUR ONE WAY)
Take the same route as above, but take the track on the right at the Whispering Falls turn-off. There is a bit more climbing once past the turn-off, and some slightly more technical sections to negotiate. The ride back has some great down hill runs and makes the ride up well worth the effort.
